Over the past weekend, we met up with my cousin and his family and made a trip to their newly purchased 20 acres in the lower Kittitas Valley just outside Ellensburg, Washington. We couldn’t have asked for a better day (well, maybe more sunshine) with 4 to 6 inches of snow on the ground; non-existent winds, and; temperatures in the upper 30′s. Considering the weather we’ve recently been having in the Seattle area, it was a nice change – dry and cold instead of damp and cold.
I captured this image of the tree, clouds and mountains from where we parked our vehicles. I photographed the tree several times throughout the day, however it wasn’t until later in the afternoon the lighting improved and I captured this image.
Camera specs: Nikon D700, Nikon 80-200mm lens at 200mm, F2.8, /3000 second, ISO 200.
Processing: The RAW image was keyworded in PhotoMechanic and imported and converted to DNG in Adobe LightRoom 3 beta. After some basic adjustments and cropping, I used two Lightroom presets by Seim Effects titled “Super Hero” and “Nature Boy”.
