Quick Shot with the Hipstamatic App for iPhone
Monday, January 11th, 2010While catching up on reading my photography blogs feeds (guilt free computer time while my wife watched The Bachelor), I came across a site dedicated to the Apple iPhone called iPhoneography. Looks like a cool site, so I went ahead subscribed to the feed via my reader. Will have to check out earlier posts another day.
I’m always on the lookout for photography apps for the iPhone and one that caught my eye (and featured on iPhoneography) was an app called Hipstmatic (available for $1.99 on iTunes). The app simulates the rare Hipstamatic plastic camera. The sample images I saw looked pretty cool.
I quickly downloaded and shot the image below from my darkened office into the light hallway. Not a very good representation of the app, but the best I can do at 9:30 on a Monday night.

Unnatural Reality

After lunch on Friday, my wife wanted to stop by the Tacoma Mall to check on some sales at her favorite stores. Walking down the mall I spotted this unclothed mannequin in the display window of one of the stores. Initially, I photographed this image as a joke to text to my co-workers. Later, after reviewing the images on my iPhone, it got me thinking. Do mannequin’s like this (and some models too) give a false impression on what is the ideal body for women and girls? Who has body like this? Pretty unrealistic in my opinion.
Camera specs: Apple 3GS iPhone
Processing: Cropped in PhotoForge app and then processed in The Best Camera app.
