As the longest day gives way to the twilight of the Summer Solstice, I find myself standing at Cape Disappointment State Park in Washington. The rugged cliffs embrace me, and the rhythmic crash of waves below is a soothing lullaby. The air carries a salty tang, a reminder of the vast expanse of the Pacific Ocean stretching beyond the horizon.
The shoreline falls away near the Deschutes River in Tumwater, Washington. This black and white photograph marks a shift from containment to openness, where still water and fog create a quieter, more expansive scene.
One still morning in Gifford Pinchot, I stopped next to a Trillium flower. I want to share what that quiet moment meant to me and how it helped me see beauty in small things.
