In late January 2014, Western Washington experienced several days of foggy winter mornings. This series of black and white, long exposure images were taken among the old dock ruins on the Puget Sound, near Ruston Way in Tacoma, Washington.

There’s a kind of beauty in quiet places—a beauty that doesn’t ask for attention, but rewards it. I spent a single autumn morning photographing Washington’s Lower Crab Creek Coulee in black and white. The land, shaped by ancient floods, seemed to whisper in shadows and light. This project is my way of listening—and sharing what I heard.

As the longest day gives way to the twilight of the Summer Solstice, I find myself standing at Cape Disappointment State Park in Washington. The rugged cliffs embrace me, and the rhythmic crash of waves below is a soothing lullaby. The air carries a salty tang, a reminder of the vast expanse of the Pacific Ocean stretching beyond the horizon.
