I’m pleased to share that two of my black-and-white landscape photographs, At the Edge of Stillness and Blackened Tree, were selected for Natural Harmony at LightBox Photographic Gallery in Astoria, Oregon.
Juried by photographer Jody Miller, Natural Harmony explores landscapes shaped by persistence, resilience, change, and the forces of the natural world. The exhibition looks at the ways landscapes endure, change, and continue to reveal themselves. LightBox describes the exhibition as an exploration of landscapes that survive harsh conditions or simply refuse to go unnoticed.
At the Edge of Stillness
At the Edge of Stillness was photographed on Washington’s Olympic Peninsula. Fog moves through the forested ridges, simplifying the landscape and allowing only fragments of the terrain to remain visible.
It is a photograph about transition. The landscape is still there, but for a moment much of it becomes hidden.
Blackened Tree
Blackened Tree was photographed at Rocky Coulee in Washington. The landscape carries visible evidence of wildfire, yet vegetation continues to grow across the surrounding hills.
What drew me to the scene was the relationship between damage and persistence. The tree remains part of a landscape that continues to change around it.
